WASHINGTON, Jan. 30, 2015 - Deloitte is pleased to announce that Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory, a provider of detailed market analysis on the consulting industry, has named Deloitte a leader in Public Sector Consulting to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security based on the breadth and depth of the firm’s capabilities.

In its recently issued report, “Public Sector Consulting to the US Department of Homeland Security,” Kennedy notes, “Deloitte has been actively consulting to DHS since the Department’s inception, having consulted on its original standup. Since then, the firm has provided its consulting services to almost every aspect of the DHS organization.”

The report gave Deloitte strong scores across the nine identified areas deemed critical to DHS, stating: “Deloitte’s capabilities within the DHS consulting sector are designed with organizational integration in mind, utilizing analytics, cloud, supply chain management and other services to drive enterprise-wide change within the Department. DHS agencies will find value in the forward-thinking approach that Deloitte takes to this market, identifying areas where clients can improve and ensure the success of the Department in its effort to reinvent itself as a more cohesive organization.”

“Since the creation of the DHS, Deloitte has been committed to improving DHS operations and organization,” said former DHS Undersecretary for Management Janet Hale, director for Deloitte Services LP. “This long-term commitment, and our comprehensive understanding of DHS missions and goals, is what sets us apart and differentiates Deloitte in the marketplace.”

The Kennedy report explores the opportunities and challenges for the DHS, focusing on key initiatives, client spending trends and forecasts, shifting priorities and missions and the competitive landscape.

“From counterterrorism and cybersecurity to immigration and emergency preparedness, DHS is facing unprecedented challenges and expanded missions in an ever-changing world,” said Nathan Houser, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and national security sector leader for the federal practice. “We understand these challenges and have the qualifications to support DHS in their missions as well as the capabilities to help them continue to improve their operations.”

Additional Findings
  • “Deloitte provided consulting support in the stand up of DHS and has continued to do so through today, having worked with almost every component of DHS and adapting to the changing mission of the Department as threats evolved over the past several years. Deloitte’s view of DHS’s evolution is fourfold and has guided its go-to-market approach to DHS clients: 1) understanding how the disparate agencies and their missions had to come together under the DHS umbrella, 2) back-office and mission integration, 3) mission system sharing, and in the near future, 4) enterprise integration of strategy, people, processes, and technology.”
  • “Deloitte’s view of DHS as a constantly evolving organization resonates well with Department components as they work to form a more cohesive and effective organization while still carrying out the various missions assigned to them by their leadership.”
  • “Deloitte’s consulting in the stand up and integration of key agencies within DHS at its inception, such as CBP and TSA, in addition to its ongoing support of components today, provides the firm with an in-depth understanding of the Department’s operations. DHS clients will find value in this understanding as the push for enterprise integration continues (most immediately seen with the Unity of Effort initiative).”
