Healthcare is one of our largest verticals, providing a flexible workstyle to millions of clinicians daily as they serve their patients. At Citrix Synergy 2018, I was fortunate enough to present with Manu Chauhan on Citrix healthcare topics and industry trends and got to talk shop with representatives from hospital systems all over the country. To follow up on this, I decided to team up with Henry Vernov, a fellow architect on the Citrix Healthcare ISV team who works with our largest EHR partners, to put on a TIPs webinar. Next Thursday, we’re going to cover the following topics:

Pod Architecture. After announcing that the recommended design in the XenApp 7.15 Reference Architecture for Epic Hyperspace was a multi-site deployment, this provided quite the fodder for debate. I had some very good discussions on this topic at Synergy, with some customers strongly for and some strongly against this deployment option. We’ll break down the debate for you and help you make the right decision for your organization.

With StoreFront multi-site aggregation providing the glue between your pods and using PowerShell to keep your settings in line, you’ll be in the best shape possible to mitigate risk to your organization’s most important application.

Session Recording. This is a point of discussion we see coming up more and more frequently as of late, as administrators are looking for ways to improve troubleshooting efforts with healthcare providers who don’t always have the time to spend with IT in the event of an issue.

For healthcare customers who like to stay on an LTSR release but are operating at a scale that makes the standalone architecture difficult to manage – we’ve got good news for you – as you can deploy the 7.15 LTSR Session Recording agent with the CR Session Recording Server and Player in a load balanced architecture!

Thin Clients. Healthcare organizations large and small have had their sights set on reducing endpoint cost and simplifying management in the clinical arena. Different organizations have taken a range of approaches with varying degrees of success.

If the biggest hurdle to getting this right is collecting the right information about user requirements in the plan phase, the sneakiest item that has the potential to add cost and complexity is handling mapping of network printers, which is normally handled through a manual operation on Windows endpoints. Make sure you don’t overlook this seemingly basic item that can be very impactful at large scale.

If you want more tips on these topics, please join us on June 14th at 9AM and 2PM EST. Manu Chauhan (Director of Product Management) will be joining us for live Q&A at the end of each session, where you can pick our brains on anything healthcare – after all, who doesn’t like a little free consulting?!
